Abstract

This work examines the Augustinian thought about Free Will. Its main purpose is to show the problem of human freedom and the sovereignty of God. This concept was developed and based mainly however, other books by the author himself were used in the progress of this work. Thus, this academic production was developed in two parts. Philosophical anthropology and free will itself. In the first part, the concept of man is understood in Augustine of Hippo, with the intuition of understanding what guides the referential of man, in the thought of our Hyponean philosopher. In the second section of this textual production, pertinent questions about this theme were developed. Questions were asked about the origin of free will? Is God responsible for the cause of sin that human freedom allows? How to reconcile human freedom and God's sovereignty? Given these and other questions, that this academic work is going to show in a almost panoramic way, these ideas that led our thinker to write about this theme.
