Memórias de uma territorialização na construção do lugar e da paisagem: cultura e modos de viver dos Narradores da Ribeira

Abstract

This text is a study about the way of life of men and women belonging to rural communities of the municipality of Darcinópolis - TO. Even today, in these small communities in the countryside of Tocantins, rural men and women maintain ancestral cultural practices alive. The landscapes constituted by these subjects compose a way of living built over generations on a specific territory and reveal practices that survived the dynamics of territorial reorganization resulting from capitalism. In this sense, unveiling through the narratives of these subjects as they relate to the various historical processes that have emerged over their territories throughout their existence is the major challenge of our research, where we seek to sharpen our eyes on the narratives and also on some of the cultural expressions that make up the plot of their lives. Linked to the research line "Landscapes, Narratives and Languages" we aim to direct our analysis through the paths of childhood, religiosity and various practices lived by the individuals of these communities, where we seek to problematize the meanings that the Ribeira backcountry attribute to the place of their lives and the social structure built by their ancestors. Because it is an interdisciplinary postgraduate program that excels at broadening the lenses of the social sciences to human cultures, we put in dialogue authors from various areas of knowledge. In this endeavor, among many, we contribute in Yu Fu Tuan and Rogério Haesbart to understand the affinity that the individual builds with the territory. In order to understand the cultural and identity issues, we refer to Raymond Williams, Edward Palmer Thompson, Stuart Hall, Paul Litlle and Klass Woortmann. In the quest to understand the nuances and meaning of the narratives presented to us, we appropriate the contributions of Paul Ricouer, Mikhail Bakhtin. Not least, we use the sociological contributions of Otávio Velho and José de Souza Martins, who in other contexts studied the region whose community is inserted. We also serve in this work of the poetics of Gaston Bachelard to analyze the role of childhood in the construction of the identity of the subjects. It is noteworthy that we mobilize all those authors who deal with different perspectives of analysis and who belong to different fields of knowledge to peer the Ribeira backcountry in their way of life. We understand that the complexity of human culture can never be achieved by the compartmentalized look of a single science, for the life of man is colored by various colors that change and acquire new tones over time. Analyzing other dimensions of the human is to enable new ways of building the historical knowledge and understanding of the social man. We understand that discussing memories, narratives, identities, landscapes, territories, religiosity and various other aspects of the fabric that compose human life from the same object or point of reference is to understand the material and immaterial social diversity that builds men, women and places.
