Aspectos de formação histórica e suas influências no desenvolvimento do Tocantins

Abstract

This research is a comparative historical analysis of the socio-economic development of the northern and southern regions of the state of Goiás, since the discovery of gold in 1723 to the secession of Goiás in 1988, resulting in the state of Tocantins. In the development of the research it was analyzed not only the importance of the territory and the regionalization of the Brazilian economy in the early twentieth century, but also the socioeconomic aspects of the former northern and southern regions of the state of Goiás, pointing out the historical factors that were instrumental in the development of each region. It was also analyzed the development of livestock, agriculture, roads, railways, ports and the origin of the establishment of the population of Goiás. Regarding methodology, the approach was qualitative. As tool for data collection it was used documentary and bibliographic research. It was possible to conclude after the research that the factors determining the difference in the development of Goiás and Tocantins are not recent; they have accumulated over the years, causing huge populational, urban and economic difference existing currently between the two states.
