Gestão fiscal, desenvolvimento e eleição municipal: uma análise da região Nordeste entre 2006 e 2010

Abstract

This article aims to verify whether there is a relationship between the level of development and the quality of fiscal management in the municipalities of the Northeast region, in addition to verifying whether the population uses its voting power to reward or reject this management by electing the mayors. how methodology, an econometric model was used where, through a multiple regression, were related to the Firjan Fiscal Management Indexes - IFGF, Municipal Development – IFDM of 2006 and 2010, in addition to the dummy of Re-election. Secondary data were obtained on the site of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan). It was found that there is a positive relationship between quality of public management and levels of municipal development and that northeastern voters tend to entrust a second term to a mayor who promoted improvement in the levels of development of the municipality.
