Educação a distância à formação em saúde: uma análise com os profissionais de odontologia no estado do Tocantins

Abstract

Distance Education - Distance Education has been consolidating itself as a great tool for the democratization of education throughout Brazil, facilitating access to undergraduate and graduate courses, and has been training and specializing professionals in the most diverse areas for decades. Virtual learning platforms strengthen the capacity of dentistry professionals, who are away from Education Institutions in large urban centers, promoting more professional quality in the care provided in the Unified Health System - SUS. However, there is a great divergence for opening health degrees in distance education, when it is necessary to facilitate access to education, and it is necessary to conduct research that studies this disagreement. To this end, the objectives of this study are to understand the perception of dentists participating in the Virtual Learning Platform, for this purpose, the study will describe the form of development of Education in the distance modality, describe the mode of operationalization of the Virtual Learning Platform constant within the proposed, and examine the perception of Dentists regarding the use of the Virtual Learning Platform as a teaching strategy. The dissertation was organized in seven chapters. The first presents the thematic, problematic and objectives of the study. The second chapter discusses the entire historical trajectory of distance education, from the origin to the current situation. The third deepens the discussion, clarifying tools and competences for distance education. The fourth chapter highlights the challenges of distance education in health courses. The fifth details the methodology adopted in the study. The sixth chapter is the analysis of the collected data, presented in 24 graphs. The last chapter responds to the research objectives, concluding the dissertation with the final considerations, since the discussion of the opening of degrees in health in distance education, even after several positive results obtained in the specialization courses, has been dividing opinions, because councils of categories of the health, federation of health workers and even the National Health Council has been taking a stand against the opening of undergraduate courses in health in distance education, however, studies carried out by institutions of national and international renown, and the Ministry of Education itself bring results that show the great value of distance education for undergraduate courses in Brazil.
