Evasão escolar na Educação Básica: uma apreensão do Serviço Social

Abstract

This research aims to carry out a study about the social determinations of school dropout in basic education, based on the understanding of social work. Aiming to achieve this objective, it was discussed about the insertion of Social Work in education, delimiting this discussion in the requirements of the social worker's practice in the school environment. This work was developed through bibliographical research and carried out through a survey of already published bibliographies (books, magazines, dissertations, theses, separate publications) on the subject in question. In addition, in order to understand the problem of school dropout and its associations with the social issue, a case study was carried out at the Sebastião Rodrigues Sales State School in the municipality of Brasilândia do Tocantins, with materials on passing, failing and dropping out of school in 2017- 2018, from the perspective of Social Service. From the sociopolitical context, we sought to identify and analyze the contribution of the social worker's practice in the basic education school and the challenges of social intervention in school dropouts. With this study, it is expected to contribute to the clarification of the social reality that involves he problem of school dropout experienced by students and families, by the public educational system and by society in general, in order to raise a collective debate capable of contributing to the clarification of possible alternatives to solve the problem, in addition to contributing to the production of knowledge about harmful social manifestations existing in the socio-occupational spaces of Social Work.
