Experiências na construção do conhecimento agroecológico: educação ambiental no Lar Batista

Abstract

The use of agroecology in the establishment of vegetable gardens, promotes the creation of ecosystemic and educational spaces, which enable the promotion of health and social and affective experiences, where they must build together a favorable basis for the adoption of healthy lifestyles. Bringing children closer to environmental discussions through the principles of environmental education within foster homes, guarantees the formation of the environmentally conscious subject. In this way, the work aimed to establish a vegetable garden through agroecological principles, in order to work on environmental education and promote food and nutritional security for children and adolescents in socially vulnerable situations, in the “Lar Batista” children's home, located in the district of Luzimangues, municipality of Porto Nacional - TO. Prepared and executed by the Center for Studies in Agroecology and Sustainable Development of the Federal University of Tocantins (NEADS / UFT) from April to August 2018, during the project's realization, a qualitative methodological approach was adopted in three stages, being the descriptive, focused and selective observations. And it was concluded that the activities developed in the Project through actions of environmental, food and nutritional education using the contact with the agroecological garden, Agroforestry System and the workshops allowed the children and adolescents to arouse the interest for healthier habits and the contact with the environment, through the affective educational act of producing their own food.
