Abstract

This article has as its theme the incorporation of referents in Libras. During a narrative the signer may incorporate one of the referents of the story. When the narrator incorporates a referent, the facial expressions and gestures made by the signer are actions and expressions made by the character. The general objective of this article is (1) to identify the moment when the flag incorporates a character in the narrative in Libras, (2) to describe how the flag uses the body to characterize a character and (3) to verify how the flag uses the facial expression to characterize a character. We analyzed a video narrated by a deaf person from a comic book by Turma da Mônica. Analysis of the video shows that the narrator incorporates several characters from the story. The narrator can divide his body to show the / firefighter /, the firefighter's action, for example / watch /, the / binoculars / and a / person to drown / away. All of this simultaneously. The narrator can show the same character, in the body (incorporation) and in the hand (classifiers). In the analysis of the video, we also saw that the narrator can show characteristics of the character, for example / serious /, / despair /, / tired / and / very very tired/. The incorporation of the referent is very important in Libras, especially in narratives when telling stories. The Libras teacher needs to know well about this subject in order to be able to teach his students
