Janelas do Centro Histórico de Porto Nacional-TO: transformações e resistência do patrimônio cultural

Abstract

The windows of the Historic Center of Porto Nacional- TO present in its architecture the memory, cultural diversity and constructive practices over the years. Listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute - IPHAN, the historic center preserves a collection of buildings of colonial architecture and traces of Romanesque and Arabic architecture. There were 8 interviews with residents and people who work in the buildings for more than five years. The interviews aimed to analyze the interviewees' view of the windows of their buildings, as well as the feelings that they could or could not generate in them. Also, understand the changes that haveoccurred in the windows over the years and what the reasons led to the modifications. And still classify the elements of some windows observed in their importance and representativeness. We noticed that over time, many windows suffered interference, with the addition of iron bars, because for many respondents the lack of security was one of the factors. The cataloging of the windows of the historic center aims at preserving them, history and memory.
