Abstract

The curricular internship is the opportunity for the academic in the last period of Veterinary Medicine to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the undergraduate course. There is a growing demand for professionals to develop activities of surgical clinic and reproduction of large animals, highlighting the need for qualification to the area. In this context, the disease of digits in cattle shows itself as an important link in the production chain, both in dairy and beef cattle, being responsible for several economic losses and harming animal welfare. Therefore, knowledge of the anatomy of the distal portion of the bovine limbs and the clarity of the etiology, prophylaxis and treatment of the various lesions have great importance for the veterinary professional. This work reports the clinical experience of the supervised internship in the reality of the northern region of the state of Tocantins, as well as a literature review about foot diseases in cattle.
