Representação da mulher a partir da personagem Oribela, filme “Desmundo”

Abstract

The paper presents about the importance of analysis of the representations of women in cinematographic productions. It aims to understand the role of women in colonial Brazil through the film “Desmundo” and what representations of these currently, emphasizing the permanence of the historical process and the conquests desired by them. The film is an adaptation of the book by Ana Miranda (1996) by filmmaker Alain Fresnot, released in Brazilian cinema in 2002. It is qualitative research of cinematographic critical analysis, in addition to a historic documental and bibliographic. As historical sources for the study we bring the letters of the Jesuits and as specialized bibliography we appropriate articles and books. The film brings approaches to the processes of submission, rape, silencing, oppression and violence. As well as emphasizes on the view of the female body as object/thing, possession of someone and how this reflects currently. It also reveals data on the multiple violence against women, as well as dealing with the various forms of resistance of women in search os the desired dreams of freedom, equal pay, opportunity, respect for differences and financial Independence. As a result, we point out the great importance of working with films in the classroom, in order to provide inquiry and problematization in students through the relevance of themes, such as the representations of women, passing through their experiences and generating engagement in the historical struggle for gender equality.
