metadata.dc.description.resumo:	O ensino de Astronomia é de fundamental importância para compreensão do universo que vivemos. Apesar de recomendado nos documentos oficiais que regem o ensino nacional, pouco se vê sobre esta área de conhecimento dentro das salas de aula. O presente trabalho é resultado de uma pesquisa com alunos e professor de uma disciplina eletiva de Astronomia ofertada na educação básica da cidade de Araguaína. O trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a relação dos alunos com a astronomia, e os conhecimentos obtidos através da disciplina. Além disso, visa investigar as principais dificuldades encontradas pelo professor ao lecionar tais assuntos. Este trabalho teve o intuito de analisar o ensino de astronomia que vem sendo oferecido por meio de uma disciplina eletiva em uma escola estadual da rede pública de educação básica da cidade de Araguaína
Abstract:	Astronomy teaching is of fundamental importance for understanding the universe we live in. Although recommended in the official documents that govern national education, little is seen about this area of knowledge within the classrooms. The present work is the result of a research with students and professor of an elective discipline of Astronomy offered in basic education in the city of Araguaína. The work aims to analyze the students' relationship with astronomy, and the knowledge obtained through the discipline. In addition, it aims to investigate the main difficulties encountered by the teacher when teaching such subjects. This work aimed to analyze the teaching of astronomy that has been offered through an elective course in a state school in the public basic education network in the city of Araguaína
