Abstract

This work presents considerations about the historical analysis of the black man from the lithographed images in the illustrated week magazine created by Henrique Fleiuss in 1861, in the XIX century, which at the time allowed the readership a new contact with the experience of observing, critically, their own routine, Divulging the disdain of the authorities with the precariousness of the public services and the infrastructure of the federal capital/published in the city of Rio de Janeiro from 1861-1862. Through bibliographic analysis and the photographic message that represents a range of relationships, codes and behavior along with social representations. It aims at an interdisciplinary dialogue to evaluate and understand photography, seeking to highlight the black as part of the historical process related to the motives of the iconographic production in the magazine and to perceive at present its representativeness.
