O uso do software wxmaxima nos conteúdos de funções do primeiro grau e segundo grau.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate: how can Wxmaxima software be used as a resource for teaching and learning 1st and 2nd grade functions? In this sense, a bibliographical and qualitative research was developed, and Wxmaxima Software was chosen, which has a complete computational algebra system specialized in symbolic operations, it is free and allows the graphic visualization of the functions of first and second functions. Second grade, which can be an auxiliary tool in the study of this content. Thus, a monitoring and a workshop was held with the participation of twenty-nine students from the High School classes, at the Computer Laboratory of the Araguaína Application College in the city of Araguaína, state of Tocantins, one of the participating schools of the Institutional Scholarship Program Of Teaching Initiation (PIBID). The focus was on the approach to the content of functions, in particular: types of functions, sketching of graphs and determination of roots. With the result, the dissertation answers show that the software was able to arouse the interest of the students in relation to the content, considering that the students rarely had subjects directed to the use of computer science in the school. Another important point was that the students evaluated that the software could assist them in learning Mathematics, because the answers were accurate. According to the teacher's answers, computers were underused due to their lack of attendance, lack of maintenance and teacher training. Therefore, this work discusses these problems about the use of softwares in the school environment.
