Abstract

This work aims to describe the activities developed during the Mandatory Curricular Internship in the area of Small Animal Medical Clinics, at the University Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Uberlândia (HVU-UFU), in Minas Gerais, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Priscilla Macedo de Souza and supervision of Prof. José Eugênio Diniz Bastos, from August 1 to October 13, 2017, totaling 416 hours. During the internship, under the guidance of the veterinarians, resident veterinarians and teaching staff of the Institution, 84 clinics, 12 patients in the ward and 40 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) were followed up, in addition to the screening of 51 animals for the castration project. The trainees activities include anamnesis, clinical and physical examination, collection of biological samples for complementary exams, placement of venous accesses, medication administration, patient support in imaging tests, and follow-up of the patient's treatment and evolution. The data of the cases seen in the sectors of the Medical Clinic are arranged in the work in the form of graphs and tables. Finally, a clinical case of discoespondylitis in dogs will be reported and discussed, followed during routine in HVU-UFU.
