Abstract

The main objective of this work is to provoke reflections on the teaching of the Portuguese language to the indigenous peoples of Brazil, mainly in intercultural undergraduate courses, taking into account the cultural, linguistic and historical peculiarities and the treatment of each nation. for the level of proficiency in Portuguese. Problematizing the achievement and progression of Aboriginal students in higher education. Our goal is to find out how the public policy aimed at indigenous peoples is implemented at the Federal University of Tocantins, as well as the activities and projects that this university has developed to guarantee the rights of traditional peoples in higher education. We seek to understand the historical process of public policies aimed at indigenous peoples in higher education, which ensured achievements such as the right to special and differentiated education also in universities.
