Território religioso afro-brasileiro no espaço urbano de Gurupi - Tocantins: o terreiro vovó e pai cambinda de Aruanda

Abstract

The perspective of cultural practice leads the look of geography to the knowledge of the most appropriate subjects, in order to enunciate their meanings about their territory. It is in the context of cultural geography, in the subfield of the geography of religions, that this research is located, whose objective is to analyze the terreiro Vovó and Pai Cambinda de Aruanda, in the municipality of Gurupi, Tocantins, as religious territory. As a methodological strategy for the understanding and analysis of our object from the perspective of cultural geography, I opted for a literature review on the subject territory and religious terreiros of Afro-Brazilian matrix and a field work for observation and experience, in addition to conducting an interview with the higher authority of the terreiro, Mother Claudia of Oxum. Because I am a regular visitor of the terreiro and have an identity with Umbanda, I sought to carry out the research understanding that doing science does not contradict the experience of my religiosity.
