A Política Pública de Saúde e a luta pela terra: Vila Nova Vitória, assentamento açaí, município de Açailândia - MA

Abstract

This article analyzes public health policy with the aim of reflecting on its effectiveness, using the agrovila Nova Vitória, located in the Açaí settlement in Açailândia, Maranhão, as an empirical reference. Methodologically, the research as conducted through bibliographic and documentary rewiew, as well as interviews with professionals and community members. The study recovers the construction of the National Haealth Policy, highlighting the Unified System and Basic Health Care, as well as pointing out elements regarding the struggle for land in the state of Maranhão, particularly in the tocantina region in the weatern part of the state. Furthermore, it discusses the services offered by the local Basic Health Unit. Finally, the results indicate that, despite progress in acess to public health, there are limitations and challeges that affect its effectiveness.
