Romaria de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios: identidade, cultura, história e religiosidade presentes em Arraias-TO.

Abstract

The theme of this work was the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Pilgrimage, which takes place in the city of Arraias / TO, from August 30 to September 9, when the city is busy and receives devotees from all over the region. The present study was due to the local importance of this event for the Arawara community and the lack of official records about this celebration. With this, the main objective was to understand the cultural and historical elements that involve the festivity. To reach this goal, we approach concepts related to memory, religion, identity, culture and local history. The methodological approach of the study was based on the qualitative nature, in a review of literature, bibliography, field research and documentary analysis. In the data collection, a subjective questionnaire applied to four pilgrims was used as instrument. In order to do this, we seek theoretical foundations in light of: COSTA (2008), SOUZA (2013), RAMALHO (2013), MACENA (2010), DURKHEIM (1893) and ALVES (1893). During the study, we identified that in the devotion of the pilgrims, a relation of identity, memory and religiosity that keeps present in Arraias and continues being passed from generation to generation. Through the procedures adopted, it was possible to perceive that the celebration is rooted in the memory of the Arraians and characterized within the historical context of the city, with strong features of the religious culture marked by devotion to the patroness of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, besides significantly moving the economy place during the days of the party, highlighting the importance of this event for the city and region.
