Relações raciais no ambiente escolar: um estudo de caso autobiográfico em uma escola no norte do Tocantins.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze race relations in the school environment, specifically at the Deputy Darcy Marinho High School, located in the municipality of Tocantinópolis. We seek to reflect on the changes that took place in this school in the period between the years 2005, the year in which I finished high school, to 2015, the year in which I returned to school as a fellow in the Institutional Program for Teaching Initiation Scholarships (PIBID). In order for this work to be carried out, we used my own experience, first, as a black and poor student at this institution, and later, returning to it as a student in the Social Sciences course at the Federal University of Tocantins, with a PIBID scholarship. The results obtained from this work were very positive, since upon returning to school we could observe that there were significant changes in the way the school started to work on the racial issue with the students, and in the way of thinking, both by the students, and of the community at large.
