Tecendo narrativas de professores da cidade alta de Arrais do Tocantins: um olhar sobre a saúde do professor

Abstract

This study aimed to reflect on the health of the teacher, as well as to present questions about the factors that cause the illness of teachers in the Brazilian educational scenario (Arraias-TO). In which, it was aggravated in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also sought to investigate how public policies are working to face the problem. As hypotheses of this illness, we believe in excessive workload, violence, lack of appreciation of their professional identity by their peers and family, among others. The research was anchored in the studies of Bosi (1994), Tardif and Lessard (2015), among others. We adopted the methodological path of qualitative research, through bibliographic analysis. Still, we prioritize the approach of the oral life history, in the analysis of the narratives of the participating teachers and of the data from the researcher's field diary. In this perspective, we highlight the relevance of the work in bringing to light reflections on the theme from the life stories of teachers in the city of Alta de Arraias (TO), context of the researcher's experience. In order to revive and record the teachers' life stories, elements emerged to know the life and professional itineraries of these teachers and, consequently, reflect on the relationship of their trajectories with the factors that cause their illness in the educational context. Among the results, we find: (a) evidence of the need to create more effective public policies that corroborate the problem; (b) the importance of valuing and caring for teachers' health in order to improve the quality of education in the country; and (c) encourage the exercise of “listening and empathy” inside and outside the school walls.
