Desafios encontrados pelos profissionais da enfermagem e usuários no tratamento da hanseníase: revisão integrativa

Abstract

Introduction: Leprosy is an infectious disease that affects people in Brazil and the world with alarming data. It is transmitted by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae, through intimate and prologue contact, an ancient disease, stigmatized from the biblical accounts, but it has treatment and cure. Objective: Identify the challenges faced by nursing professionals and users in the treatment of leprosy by the Brazilian National Health System (SUS). Methods: Integrative review, the search was carried out in the databases Latin American and Caribbean in Health Sciences, Nursing Database and the Scientific Electronic Library Online Library, using the descriptors: Leprosy, Nursing and Nursing Assistance. After the search, applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 8 articles were obtained. Results: The thematic analysis of the evidence allowed to identify 2 categories: Challenges in the treatment of leprosy in the perception of the nurse, there is still a lack of epidemiological knowledge about the disease, stigma is still a problem that compromises the treatment and cure of leprosy, another This challenge includes the permanence of the user throughout the treatment, the overload of work in the service, the lack of interdisciplinarity with the other professionals, treatment carried out in other places outside the community and the very conditions of organization of the health services, which leads to a high demand. Challenges in the treatment of leprosy in the perception of the user: they still report that they have the difficulty to carry out the therapeutic plan, the stigma they feel even by health professionals, the lack of professional qualification regarding the early diagnosis of the disease and of combat actions leprosy in the community in which they are inserted. Conclusion: Both practitioners and users read similarly about the challenges in treating leprosy since stigma, lack of skills and effective health education actions. It is believed that this research may contribute to nurses' practice in primary care, helping them in decision making and care planning, considering the desires of users who have leprosy, making equity feasible, recognizing that caring for the individual, family and to the community requires an increasingly integral, humanized, participatory and free of prejudice.
