Compreensões acerca do estrangeirismo no Brasil: um breve estudo etimológico do termo e suas práticas de uso.

Abstract

This work discusses about the use of foreign terms by Brazilian people. We will discuss, through a bibliographical approach, about the factors that lead to the use of these words, we will start with the history of Portuguese language, so we can already understand how other languages were important for its constitution. We will seek opinions from people who are favorable and against the use of foreignisms, and we will also establish the differences between foreignism, loan, and neologism. Finally, we will discuss the influence of the process of globalization and the expansion of technology to encourage the use of words from other languages, especially English, which is a global language. As a result, when dealing with the use of foreignism in Brazil, it was found that these terms derived from other countries not only represent a change in the language causing 'prejudice', but also a linguistic and cultural enrichment that brings different nations together.
