Abstract

This study has the theme of peasantry and textbook in Miranorte -Tocantins. Its general objective was to analyze the social representations about the peasantry from the textbook of the early years used in the municipal education network of Miranorte-TO. Its specific objectives: to analyze the geography textbook used by students of the 3rd year C, to describe what contents in the book are related to the peasant and to discuss the origins of the peasantry and the current situation and what representations about this population run through the textbook of geography of the early years used in the municipal school system of Miranorte. It is a qualitative, bibliographic and field research for theoretical understanding of the topic. The field research was carried out in an urban school, using the interview with teachers, classroom observation and study of the school's PPP and analysis of the 3rd year geography textbook C. The reflections indicate that the school chose to use from a textbook that strengthens the invisibility of the peasantry and marginalizing social representations of children from the countryside, including thinking of the peasantry as an endangered category.
