Análise Semiótica Sherlockiana: a Criação de uma Personagem Inesquecível.

Abstract

This text had as its starting point, the exploratory research, whose objective is the investigation of questions of a semiotic nature in order to make the investigation more precise; for that, the text was made in article format with a direct approach, by bibliographic and documentary means, having semiotics as analytical theory; and using unstructured tools presented in the text, so that the data were approached qualitatively; that is, collecting information that was not limited to just measuring the topic, but rather describing it, using points of view and opinions. Finally, using literature as a principle, the focus was directed to the collection of books by the author Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle, which deals with the character Sherlock Holmes, a central figure, who presents a popular character in literature and in the pop universe. American semiotics was used as a tool for a probable answer, using arguments from researcher Charles Sanders Peirce as a theoretical reference, regarding how a figure can become so iconic and so symbolic in human eyes, to the point of being almost impossible not recognizing it; and thus Sherlock Holmes becomes, for each reader, a figure at once rhematic and allegorical.
