Vida em tempos de morte: gestar e parir durante a pandemia

Abstract

Maternity is one of the most crucial moments of the human life cycle, because it is a time of great changes, both physiological and emotional, which makes this a period in which the woman needs to prepare psychologically, affectively and preferably get the proper monitoring of a support network. Based on this, the present work aims to understand the subjective implications of pregnancy and childbirth in times of pandemic. Therefore, a theoretical analysis will be carried out on motherhood as a socio-historical phenomenon; in addition, the history of pregnancy and childbirth will be studied from a biopsychosocial point of view; and the subjective implications of the pandemic will be investigated in the contemporary experience of pregnant women from their accounts on Instagram. This research used the methodology of discourse analysis, which basically focuses on analyzing how certain linguistic manifestations make sense, and how these are aroused through the existing articulation between history and memory. For the data survey, the social network Instagram was used, where there was a selection of 10 posts that talked about pregnancy and childbirth during the pandemic. Initially, motherhood was presented as a historical phenomenon, where the various factors that contribute to the way motherhood is understood in contemporary times were considered; then, motherhood was discussed from a biopsychosocial perspective, which enables the analysis of various aspects as being fundamental to the promotion of health of pregnant women; then the analysis of the posts on Instagram was carried out, drawing closer to authors of perinatal psychology. Finally, it became evident the need for greater psychological attention for pregnant and parturient women, who needed to deal with the various difficulties associated with generating a life in a period as delicate as the Covid-19 pandemic.
