Abstract

Libraries emerged with the advent of writing from the moment when there was a need to store information made in graphic records, but despite their creation they did not have a public character as we know them today, their access was restricted and they acted in the control dissemination of information, a feature that remained until the mid-renaissance, as only literate people involved with the Ecclesia were allowed to enter the enclosure. With the invention of Gutenberg’s printing press, university libraries and the industrial revolution, the book came to be understood as a product and the library as a service provider, and with contemporaneity it took on new functions until the occurrence of the park library, with the function of public equipment. assistance nature. The present work aims to introduce a park library in Palmas, seeking to achieve a relationship with the city and its surroundings through its use as public equipment and landscape architecture as a project qualifier and urbanity provider. As a means of achieving this, there was documental research of subjects related to the theme and adjacent, studies of correlates were also carried out that attest to the efficiency of the proposal and through these it was possible to prepare a preliminary project adapted to the reality of Palmas. Finally, it was found that when sized for the Central Planning Region (RPC), the equipment meets the demands observed in surveys. It is estimated that the park library causes positive changes, in addition to the offer of leisure and culture, especially in relation to the impacted society, creating a library proposal that offers access to culture and leisure.
